Boredoms Playing Boadrum 9 Show, Soundtracking Solar Eclipse

Never let it be said that experimental noise rockers Boredoms lack ambition. Their 77Boadrum show in Brooklyn in 2007 brought together 77 drummers for a spectacular outdoor concert, and they repeated the trick a year later with 88 drummers in New York and California.

Boadrum 9 will happen at Terminal 5 in New York City on September 9 and is likely to be a scaled down version of the now annual event. It’s doubtful that 99 drummers will be able to squeeze into the venue, but unlike last year’s New York show, the Boredoms will be in attendance this year.

Perhaps the band is focusing more of its energy on a show they have planned aboard a cruise ship in July? During the next solar eclipse, Boredoms, Gang Gang Dance and Goma will hit the open seas in the South Pacific, where they will provide a soundtrack to the eclipse. Sounds good, right? Unfortunately tickets cost 168,000 yen (about $1,700), making it unaffordable to everyone but the wealthiest noise rock fans.

Tickets for Boadrum 9 are available here.
