Bono's Back Surgery Forces U2 To Reschedule Tour Launch

Last Friday, Bono had to have emergency back surgery to repair damage he did to his back during "tour preparations." It's not clear what exactly that means, but the dude is like 50 years old. He probably slipped a disc or something.

However, that surgery couldn't have come at a worse time for U2, as the band was set to launch a U.S. tour next week in Salt Lake City. The surgery has forced the band to cancel/postpone that date on June 3 in Utah, and this puts into serious question the likelihood that the band's massive North American tour will go off like it's supposed to (it runs from June 3 to July 19, before jumping the pond for a European tour). The band's manager has been hinting that more cancellations are to come, but for now, the only date that is canceled is Salt Lake City. See the tour dates over at Pitchfork. Sorry Mormons.

Not all Utahns who are huge U2 fans are Mormons. So dissapointed.

I have heard Bono is concerned that he cannot pull off Glastonbury like Springsteen did last year and has been rehearsing like mad to improve his look, fitness and performance.

Not sure what religion has to do with anything. Comes across pseudo-prejudiced.

Apparently Colorado, Utah and Arizona are huge havens for U2 fans. Which alas explains why they are, uh were, kicking off there.

Dude, it was a terrible joke about how all Utah residents are Mormons. That's obviously not true. Some Utah residents are Carlos Boozer.

"Sorry Mormons"?? What kind of moronic remark is that? Not everyone from Utah is one, and many people were coming from out of state. Get a clue, Andrew, and keep the offensive remarks to yourself.

Saint Subversive

My friend told me about this post. This is funny. I'm Mormon. If anything's offensive, it's the implications that there's something wrong with being Mormon. But I'm not offended. Some people live in a hole and think Mormons are weird. I guess since Yo Gabba Gabba is considered weird by some people then it might make sense since the creators, producers, and writers are practically all Mormon. I went to school with a couple. There are so many Mormons in indie bands you have no clue about. Lis and Saint Sub. if you are acquainted with Mormons then you know they do love U2. It's an over-generalization but it's true to a good extent. U2 knows this. At least 75% of the people there will be Mormon (uh-oh!) Also, there are more Mormons in California than Utah...not per capita but overall.

Brendan

Seriously guys. No offense to Mormons. It was more a joke about Utah. There's nothing wrong with being Mormon, except for the whole accepting Brandon Flowers as your own thing.
