Bono blogs for the Financial Times
Bono is set for a showdown with John McCain and Sarah Palin today, where he aims to discuss the global fight against AIDS and poverty. In the meantime, he’s been blogging for the Financial Times from New York, where he’s attending the Millennium Development Goals Summit. “The lyrics I’ve been scribbling over breakfast have been removed and replaced by spreadsheets with large numbers in tiny font,” he writes.

He’s already met the president of France, Nicolas Sarkozy, whom Bono says is “a real physical presence in a room. He might even be taller than me… animated, funny one minute; annoyed the next. I admire his energy and vision.” Yesterday he was scheduled to meet activists from Africa, India, and Europe, in an attempt to make sure the delegates meeting at the UN are being held accountable for their promises.

When asked what happens in these meetings with world leaders, he simply replies: “Judo in a suit.” Presumably Bono will be blogging about his martial arts wranglings at the McCain/Palin meeting, which will be followed by a similar summit with Barack Obama and Joe Biden “in the next few weeks.” [The Daily Swarm]
