There are some more dates that big festival lovers will want to circle on their 2008 calendar. Those would be June 12-15. That's when the 2008 iteration of the big Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival is scheduled to go down in Manchester, Tennessee. Organizers of the event are not confirming recent rumors that Led Zeppelin and Metallica will be headlining the fest.
zep would be a great headliner in the wake of the recent success of the police headlining and john paul jones being all over last year's festival. metallica would completely kill the vibe. tool was one thing, cuz at least they're trippy and musically complex and deep and whatever, but metallica is a whole different beast. not a good idea. and it's not confirmed, china

Tool fuking sucks. i refused to see them. some of my friends that like them went to see them and they said the show sucked balls.. Metallica would be the worst band to have ever played at bonnaroo.. Led Zeppelin would be an amazing show if they didn't play all their popular songs and actually played the good ones..

Am I the only one here that wouldn't mind seeing Metallica headline? Just because their last fifteen years' worth of albums have blown goats doesn't mean that they're a bad live act. They've made an effort to move away from the more polished stuff from the Load/Reload days, and if they stick with the golden oldies (of course they'd pull out some of the old stuff for Bonnaroo) then I bet it would be great.
Tool sound great live but I think they're bad as headliners 'cuz they refuse to broadcast images of themselves. Which means that anyone who isn't in the pit at a large festival can't really connect with them visually. That's what disappointed me about their set at Coachella in '06.
tool was great metallica would be alright, zeppelin would be great i would like the red hot chili peppers to play, les claypool and primus would rock again radio head would be amazing and other bands that would rock the show would include: bb king, the meters, parliment or bootsy collins, any reggae, dave mathews band, the dead or any members, praxis, snoop dog, and other varietys

I have never been to bonnaroo but I would have to agree that Metalicca would be a bit of a bad emotional vibe around that many people on good drugs. Its not the most positive music out there. Definitely something I would NEVER pop into the CD player on a psychedelic journey. As far as Tool they are a good trippy band and as far as their lighting I think thats just Maynards way of saying focus on the band and the whole vibe and not just the band members individually. But for me Zep would be great along with any hip hop and hip hop DJs they invite. Hope to see u there in June
