John McCain and Sarah Palin aren’t making many friends in the music community during this election. Bon Jovi just joined a long list of artists who are unhappy about their music being appropriated for the McCain/Palin ticket. It seems Palin has been using Bon Jovi’s “Who Says You Can’t Go Home” during her political rallies, forcing staunch Barack Obama supporter Jon Bon Jovi to release the following statement:"We wrote this song as a thank you to those who have supported us over the past twenty-five years. The song has since become a banner for our home state of New Jersey and the defacto theme song for our partnerships around the country to build homes and rebuild communities. Although we were not asked, we do not approve of their use of 'Home.'"
Bon Jovi joins the Foo Fighters, Heart, Van Halen, John Mellencamp, and Jackson Browne in their protests against usage of their music by the Republican Party during this election. Is there anyone out there who can spare McCain/Palin a tune? Johnny Ramone was famously a Republican, perhaps Palin could start using “Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue” on the campaign trail? Did they patent the saying? Can you get arrested for saying it? I can understand Bon boy wanting to go on the record so he's not deemed "uncool," but in principle, it's going too far to complain.
