He was throwing a party for his 16-year-old daughter at his house in Orchard Lake, Michigan when cash, Shaquille O'Neal autographed sneakers, a Rolex watch, and a 1978 Gibson Les Paul guitar--yes, that one--went missing. Oddly enough, the guitar showed up on Seger's lakefront dock shortly thereafter.
Police soon apprehended family friend Andrew D. Thompson, who admitted to stealing the other stuff, but not the guitar. "That was my main goal, getting the guitar back," says Orchard Lake Detective Darrell Betts, perhaps revealing his Seger fandom. "It's priceless."
The 20-year-old Thompson turned himself in and will be charged with larceny from a building. He could face four years in prison. Dude apparently needs to work on his night moves, am I right? [Rolling Stone]
