The rumors that Britpop figureheads Blur were planning on issuing new material in the not-too distant future have turned out to be true. Damon Albarn and his band will stream a live performance via Twitter on Monday July 2, where they will debut two new songs at 6:15pm BST (1:15pm EST).
As expected, one of those songs will be “The Puritan” while the other is “Under the Westway.” Both were written specifically for the forthcoming Hyde Park concert the band is playing in London this summer. “I’m really excited about getting out there and playing them for people,” said Albarn.
@blurofficial will be the place to go to hear the songs, with the first track being followed by an interview and the second song airing at 7:15pm BST. Both tracks will be available as a download following the stream, and a 7-inch single containing them is set for release on Aug. 6. [Pic: Wiki]
