Reunited and it feels so…still rather unattainable. The good news is Blur has confirmed two more summer 2013 festival appearances, the bad news is that you’ll still have to find a way to Europe to see them.
Thisisfakediy reports that Blur is confirmed to play Barcelona’s Primavera Sound on May 24 and Porto’s Optimus Primavera Sound on May 31 (apparently Portugal is a one-upper). Blur will also be headlining Belgium’s biggest rock festival Rock Werchter on July 4.
So at least for now there’s no hiatus on the horizon, which seemed the case when Blur made some implications that their Hyde Park show in August may be their last. Bassist Alex James told NME: “I really don’t know what happens next, that’s the only honest answer I can give. It’s precarious though. If Hyde Park is shit, then that’s definitely it.”
But hopefully new festival dates means new material—Blur recorded “Under The Westway” and “The Puritan” for the Hyde Park show, so is it really so wrong to be hoping for a new album? In the meantime check out a collage of live performances on the band’s website, as well as a sweeping performance of “Under The Westway” below.
