In 2011 it felt like there was plenty of upheaval in the Bloc Party camp, with rumors that singer Kele Okereke was no longer a part of the group constantly circulating. But the New Year brings good news for fans of the band—a new album featuring Okereke on vocals has been confirmed.
It’s not clear yet how the warring factions became harmonious once again, although it’s likely that every interview with the group will touch on that when the promo for the record begins in earnest. Okereke confirmed the reunion on Zane Lowe’s show on Radio 1 in the U.K. today, saying the album will surface later this year.
Anyone looking for further confirmation should check out the band’s official website, where a post titled “Bloc Party Is Still Bloc Party” heralds the return of Okereke. A Simpsons-style illustration of the four members together decorates the post, although no accounts from the other members on how or why this happened have been made available (yet). [via Gigwise]
