Have you scrambled to download Bloc Party’s abruptly released Intimacy? If so then you’ve appeased singer Kele Okereke, who claims: “It’s going really well. It’s definitely working.” Okereke doesn’t provide any figures to back up these words, but if he’s speaking the truth then we could be witnessing a shift in how major albums are released. Intimacy has only been available to download for one day, and Okereke has openly admitted that Radiohead were a big influence in the decision to release Intimacy so rapidly. “We finished it a few months ago and we thought, 'Why do we need to sit on it for six months after it's done?’” he says. "It seems that post-In Rainbows there are no rules about this sort of thing anymore." CD copies of the record, complete with additional tracks, will ship on October 27. "I don't want it to just be an Internet, cool thing," says Okereke. [Billboard]

I'll be interested to see how many they've sold. Seems like it was a good move for a band like them
