Bloc Party may have been quick to deride Oasis following their recent split, but the band clearly needs to take care of some issues closer to home. A show by the band in Wales scheduled for tonight (Oct. 16) has just been canceled, and rumors are gathering that drummer Matt Tong may be about to quit the band.
The show in Newport has been canceled due to a medical procedure guitarist Russell Lissack needs to undergo. A spokesperson for Bloc Party said it wasn’t anything serious, but “cannot be delayed until the end of the tour.” Refunds for the show are being offered and the date won’t be rescheduled.
Meanwhile, Tong has been speaking to the BBC about the future of the band, saying: “Hopefully if we do reconvene at some point in the future we'll be refreshed and have so many ideas to bring to what it is we do.” He then added: "As for me I don't know, I wouldn't mind trying something else for a while."
sensationalist crap. He said he'd like to try something new, but he didn't say anything about leaving. you guys just editorialized that bit into it yourselves. shameful.

good riddance! i hope they break up. Silent Alarm was a classic, A Weekend in the City had its moments, and Intimacy was a big mess of torrid but occasionally decent ideas. Law of diminishing returns, guys! End it before you tarnish the name.
