BLK JKS Prep Debut Album, After Robots

When Secretly Canadian released Mystery, the debut EP from South African rock outfit BLK JKS, it wasn't just another case of a promising start from an exciting new band. It was a full-fledged statement, each of its four chaotic, layered tracks as capable of blindsiding you as the next. So it's a good thing they're not biding their time putting together a full-length record.

BLK JKS will release that album, entitled After Robots, via Secretly Canadian on Sept. 8. The disc was produced by Brandon Curtis from the Secret Machines and features horn work from the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble. The disc promises to be another eclectic set from the band, meshing genres and musical tastes from around the globe with the band's proggy, funked-out rock. And, if the title is to be believed, it might have something to do with the future.

The album's first single, "Molalatladi," is available now as a free download. From the bracing vocals, to the tangling guitars (not to mention a hell of a solo) and bursts of brass, the song is plainly fantastic, and a great first taste of a highly-anticipated disc.
