With the all-week New York City music festival known as CMJ approaching, we are looking to bring you some information on one of the bigger underground hip-hop showcases. Marketing and publicity firmAudible Treats, with some help from sponsors such as Prefix and XXL, has curated its second CMJ event. And, well, it's a doozy.
The show, which goes down Oct. 21, includes sets from Prefix regulars and newcomers alike such as Black Sheep, Nottz, Diamond District, Rah Digga, Big Pooh and members of Hall Of Justus, Von Pea, Chip Fu, Moe Green, DaVinci, the Niceguys, and the Left. Many of these names will look familiar if you happened to grab our Summer Sampler or just happened to be a fan of underground rap. I think it's safe to say that if you have plans for that night, break 'em, and get ready for one hell of a time.
The showcase takes place at Sullivan Hall, located at 214 Sullivan St. New York, NY 10012 (between 3rd and Bleeker). Doors open at 7 p.m. and the first set starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 day of. They can be purchased at Ticketweb. You can also stream a "CMJ Mega Mix" created by DJ King Most that highlights all of the performers here.
