Black Rebel Motorcycle Club To Release New Album, "Beat The Devil's Tattoo," On March 9, 2010, Followed By U.S. Tour

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, who early on were accused of being mere clones of shoegaze heroes Jesus & Mary Chain because of their fondness for ear-splitting distortion and an all black uniform, have manged to carve out a corner of the rock 'n' roll community to claim solely as their own. Since the beginning of the decade, the band has been churning out some of best music from just outside the mainstream, none of it sounding like gimmickry or imitation.

From the gospel-infused tones of Howl to the harder edges of B.R.M.C and Baby 81, the band has been producing a consistent stream of top-quality records, and plan to continue with Beat The Devil's Tattoo, to be released on March 9, 2010. Their fifth studio album (not including the self-released, download-only The Effects of 333) will be released on their Abstract Dragon label in a partnership with Vagrant, and was recorded in Philadelphia and mixed in their hometown of Los Angeles.

Beginning in February, on the eve of the album's release, the band will head out on a three-month tour of the United States, roaring through most major cities.

Yeah, my Brit pals seem to hate on BRMC, but I think they're rather good. I seem to like all the "black" bands: Black Angels, Black Mountain, Black Keys, Black Dice, Black Lips...uhm, not too crazy about Black Moth Super Rainbow, but hey you can't have it all.

oceanRain, I wonder what you think of Black Kids, Black Lace, Black Sabbath, Black Flag, Black Label Society, Black Eyed Peas, Nine Black Alps and Black Crowes.
