Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney, the bluesome twosome better known as The Black Keys, will continue to soldier on touring through the end of the year. I genuinely admire the Keys' sound, and I know they put on a furiously sweaty, shredding live show. I want to like them even more. I really do. But when I hear their music, a part of me can't help but think of that hilariously awful band Blueshammer from a certain scene in Ghost World. And that leads me to pondering the legitimacy of two Midwestern white dudes appropriating dirty Delta blues. And then my feeble brain starts to hurt from too much thinking.
