Bjork Contributes New Song to Forthcoming Moomins Film

The Moomins are a family of trolls who were brought to life by famed Finnish illustrator and writer Tove Jansson in a series of books. Their popularity spread throughout Scandinavia and elsewhere, and there is even a Moomins theme park in Finland, which must be a haven to anyone who has sucked up one too many bong hits.

 

There’s a Moomins movie on the way, titled Moomins and the Comet Chase, and like many recent kid-friendly productions, the makers of the film have turned to some interesting musical talent to help with the soundtrack. Bjork’s part in the film has been confirmed—she will contribute at least one song to the soundtrack.

 

Bjork’s piece is titled “The Comet Song” and was written with her collaborator, the author Sjón. According to Bjork’s official website, she is a big fan of the Moomins, and has often worn T-shirts bearing the image of the little creatures. Moomins and the Comet Chase will be released around August/September 2010.
