Bing Offers Five Million Songs For Free Streaming

With the acquisition and sudden shutter of Lala by Apple, the next source of free streaming to preview and listen to music has been in limbo over the past few months. While no official word from Apple has been announced, there are web-based rumors abound that Apple’s acquisition is apart of a greater move that could possibly incorporate Lala’s features into a new, cloud-based streaming service by Apple.

Until then, Microsoft’s Bing search engine will now allow over 5 million songs to be streamed in their entirety once for free in an apparent attempt to boost the search engine’s popularity. In addition to the songs, users will be able to find lyrics, tour dates and photos accompanying the song. Selection of the five million songs was based on tracks available for purchase through Zune– Microsoft’s answer to the iPod. [The Daily Swarm]
