Give Billy Corgan a little credit. The man is not afraid to speak his mind. When he found out that Smashing Pumpkins would be headlining a show in Brazil with Pavement, he dropped a tweet bomb on the situation:
“Just found out SP is playing with Pavement in Brazil. It’s gonna be 1 of those New Orleans type funerals… I say that because they represent the death of the alternative dream, and we follow with the affirmation of life part… funny how those who pointed the big finger of ‘sell out’ are the biggest offenders now…yawn. they have no love… by the way, we’ll be the band up there playing NEW songs because we have the love xx"
That will make for some pretty strained conversation over the backstage cold cut table. It's hard to know which side to take, both because this is hilarious and Malkmus and Corgan each can be insufferable, but if pressed I would give up my Pavement albums before Gish and Siamese Dream.
