Billy Corgan Has Simply Had Enough Of This Pavement Thing

Give Billy Corgan a little credit. The man is not afraid to speak his mind. When he found out that Smashing Pumpkins would be headlining a show in Brazil with Pavement, he dropped a tweet bomb on the situation:

“Just found out SP is playing with Pavement in Brazil. It’s gonna be 1 of those New Orleans type funerals… I say that because they represent the death of the alternative dream, and we follow with the affirmation of life part… funny how those who pointed the big finger of ‘sell out’ are the biggest offenders now…yawn. they have no love… by the way, we’ll be the band up there playing NEW songs because we have the love xx"

That will make for some pretty strained conversation over the backstage cold cut table. It's hard to know which side to take, both because this is hilarious and Malkmus and Corgan each can be insufferable, but if pressed I would give up my Pavement albums before Gish and Siamese Dream. Hard to believe he's still bitter over Pavement making fun of Smashing Pumpkins almost 20 years ago in "Range Life."

Even harder to believe anyone still lionizes Stephen Malkmus as an indie god because he made fun of the Smashing Pumpkins almost 20 years ago in "Range Life."

If you would give up your Pavement albums before "Gish" and "Siamese Dream" (and I love the latter) then I have no interest in reading anything you have to write about music.

Please make a note of it, Prefix.

The smashing pumkins are not as good of a band then pavement. They have some great songs, If you compare both catalogs though pavement's has more songs that stick too you more than smashing pumkins. There is only one original member left anyways (and i know billy corgan wrote more of the songs and did most of the recording but who gives a s***) in smashing pumkins. Billy corgan is dragging out the name because zwan didn't work.
