Billy Corgan sounds pretty confident about his lawsuit against former label Virgin Records for using his band in a promotional campaign with Amazon.com and Pepsi without the Pumpkins' permission. In an exclusive interview with Billboard, Corgan said. "I'm sure they indicated to Pepsi that they had a right to do this, full well knowing they do not have the right."
Corgan sued the label earlier this week for breach of contract. He claims the band has veto power over such integrity-destroying deals and he's turned them down in the past. The Pumpkins and Virgin are partners in terms of the band's catalog. Corgan says he's tried to negotiate releases of expanded editions of vintage albums, but the label has balked. "We've made offers to buy it all," he said. "Look, you have no interest. Let us just buy it. But they won't put a number on it. They've atrophied the catalog down so low that they probably hope we'll crawl back and ask for cash."
Regardless, Corgan says the band will release this year some unreleased rarities like some early Pumpkins shows, studio tracks and alternate versions.

Are they still under contract to do albums for Virgin?
