Bilal has a new album coming out -- the first to officially be released since his stellar 2001 debut, 1st Born Second. The LA indie label Plug Research will put out the album in early 2010. Bilal did most of the production, with some help from Shafiq Husayn and Nottz (Kanye West, Snoop Dogg).
Interscope dropped Bilal in 2003, and the shelved Love for Sale leaked online. "I was bummed out," claims the R&B singer. "But then I started getting a lot of work … I wasn't making money from the album, but I was making money from the shows and people were responding to this new music."
This new album explores such topics as horoscopes, religion, Egyptology, money and drugs. [Billboard]
