Here's yet another list post: Spinner posted its countdown of the year's 10 best hip-hop albums, choosing Big Boi's Sir Lucious Left Foot as number one. Valid pick, I guess, if you choose to ignore that Kanye album (number two) for purposes of making your list "different," but there are some serious WTFz, here, including (but not limited to) Nicki Minaj being here, Wiz Khalifa beating other internet phenoms like Yelawolf, Big K.R.I.T. and DaVinci (none of whom even place), a very okay Bun B album ending up in the top five, a way too late nod to Jay Elec, and uh, hi Marco Polo and Freeway! So yeah, I've got problems with this. Here's the top ten:
10. Nicki Minaj: Pink Friday
9. Marco Polo: The Stupendous Adventures of Marco Polo
8. Wiz Khalifa: Kush and Orange Juice
7. Dessa: A Badly Broken Code
6. Jay Electronica: Victory
5. Black Milk: Album of the Year
4. Bun B: Trill O.G.
3. Freeway & Jake-One: The Stimulus Package
2. Kanye West: My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
1. Big Boi: Sir Lucious Left Foot
That list is pretty off. Although props to Dessa from Doomtree getting on there. That's a good look.
Jay Elec's 'Victory'? WTF is that?
And that Nicki album? Gross.
Oh, Victory is some DJ-made mixtape. Whatevs, they could have found more proper stuff to put on there. Def a good look for Dessa, though.
