Big Boi Admits to Leaking His Own Songs Online

Big Boi, he of Outkast fame, allegedly has a solo album, titled Sir Luscious Leftfoot...Son of Chico Dusty , due out this summer. The album has been pushed back more times than you can count on all your digits (it was supposed to come out last summer, last fall, this January, this February, today, yesterday, etc.), and that hasn't sat well with Big Boi, who has admitted to releasing tracks like " Ringtone " to the Internet himself.

Boi is mad at Jive, who keep pushing the album back citing commercial concerns. This isn't the first time Jive has dicked around a famous hip-hop group--they ran the same game on Clipse back in 2006. Plus, Clipse also took to leaking their own music--their shelved 1999 Arista debut, Exclusive Audio Footage (which featured the underperforming single, " The Funeral ") was leaked by the group years ago.

Still, it's shocking that a label would think a member of Outkast might not sell records, since the group's Speakerboxxx/The Love Below was one of the last truly culturallly transcendant pieces of pop music this century. And that Big Boi has to leak tracks to raise interest is kind of sad, since it represents how far in esteem Big Boi has fallen in the span of five years. [ Contact Music

Big Boi's name alone should have been able to get this album a release already. Just sad.
