Beyonce might be picked as new Wonder Woman

Now that superhero movies have become one of Hollywood’s surefire hits, and thanks to her increasing celebrity, the long-gestating Wonder Woman re-launch may finally get greenlit now that Beyonce Knowles is interested in the title role. The L.A. Times is reporting that Beyonce has contacted Warner Brothers and DC Comics about the role, and both sides are interested. Here’s what Beyonce said in an interview with the L.A. Times:

After doing these roles that were so emotional I was thinking to myself, 'OK, I need to be a superhero.' Although, when you think about the psychology of the heroes in the films these days, they are still a lot of work, of course, and emotional. But there's also an action element that I would enjoy... I want to do a superhero movie and what would be better than Wonder Woman? It would be great. And it would be a very bold choice. A black Wonder Woman would be a powerful thing. It's time for that, right?

I would definitely have to keep it right for that costume. The way that Lynda Carter wore it, she was sooo fine. She was amazing. I saw her costume at the Met. Her waist was unbelievable. It was pretty crazy, actually, her proportions. But I love Wonder Woman and it'd be a dream come true to be that character. It sure would be handy to have that lasso. To make everybody tell the truth? I need that. It would come in very handy.

I guess that’s supposed to be a Jay-Z reference there. I’m not sure I’d be inclined to see a Wonder Woman under any circumstances (A magical lasso? Seriously?), but I’d be interested in what direction Beyonce would take the role (She’d have to go opposite of the kind of campy direction Lynda Carter brought to Wonder Woman).

In the meantime, Beyonce plays Etta James in the upcoming Chess Records biopic, Cadillac Records. [L.A. Times via io9]

although the whole 'black woman as wonder woman' thing would be very interesting they have to realize that wonder woman already has a huge history and a very large following of comic readers--ignoring that may alienate a large chunk of their audience, but hey hollywood does what hollywood wants. amirite?

Hell No!
She would not be a choice at all if i were the casting director!

Lynda Carter still the best for this role but Beyonce have nothing for this role....
