Beth Ditto Wants to Duet with Susan Boyle

Collaborations are an important part of music history. The world would be an emptier place without the duets of Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazlewood, David Bowie and Freddie Mercury, and Hilary and Haylie Duff. Uh, okay, you can scratch that last one from the list, but I will defend their cover of the Go-Go’s “Our Lips Are Sealed” until my dying day.

Beth Ditto is about to make a comeback with a new album from the Gossip, and is busy generating headlines in the build up to its release. Earlier this week she slammed Katy Perry for her “I Kissed a Girl” hit, but Ditto has some kinder words for another recent star—Susan Boyle.

“I’m reaching out to Susan,” she said, after Boyle was hospitalized with mental exhaustion. She should hook up with me and the Priests. We would be the world’s first gospel supergroup. “I think it’s horrible people have been making fun of her. Susan just wants to love Jesus and sing–it’s cute. Only I can help her out of her meltdown.”
