Ben Gibbard Releases Solo Album Details

A couple years ago, it would have seemed unlikely for anyone other than casual emo holdovers or die-hard Death Cab For Cutie fans to get excited for a Ben Gibbard solo album. But thanks to a minor life event called "divorcing Zooey Deschanel," Gibbard's album might end up a smashing success based on gossip magazine-fueled curiosity alone.

The album is called Former Lives; it'll be out on October 16, and beside the fact that it's a collection of unreleased songs and reworkings, Gibbard is recording under the name "Benjamin Gibbard," which says something significant about the concept of "former lives" in and of itself. Look out for the tracklist and future tour dates.
