Beck’s uncanny ability to cover anything has been evident for a long time -- through his Record Club project alone he's even produced covers of full albums ranging from the Velvet Underground & Nico to Yanni’s Live at the Acropolis. Now Beck is lending his skills to a cause, recording a cover version of the century-old blues standard “Corrine, Corrina” for Every Mother Counts 2012, a compilation album produced to benefit the maternal health organization Every Mother Counts. The tune finds Beck in rare form, offering softy fingerpicked acoustic guitar and a mournful vocal delivery like we haven’t heard since 2002’s Sea Change. Listen over at Pitchfork.
