Beck, Chris Martin, Pharrell On Shortlist For Best Original Song Oscar

A shortlist is produced prior to the announcement of the actual songwriting nominations for the Oscars, and the  2010 list has now been produced. It’s a minefield to get through—there are 41 songs listed in total, many of which will have moviegoers scratching their heads trying to recall the tracks.

Fortunately, the Playlist has expertly dissected the list and has determined some of the bigger names to make it, including Beck for “Life During Wartime” from the film of the same name, Jonsi for “Sticks & Stones” from How to Train Your Dragon, and Pharrell’s songs for Despicable Me.

Head over here to see the full list, which includes a nomination for Coldplay’s Chris Martin for his song “Me And Tennessee,” which will feature in the forthcoming Gwyneth Paltrow vehicle Country Strong. Get the barf bags ready if Martin and Paltrow get nominations for the ceremony, which will take place at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles on Feb. 27.
