Beatles vs. iTunes: the waiting game

Remember earlier in the year when it was announced that negotiations were finally on track for The Beatles catalog to be made available through iTunes? Remember the sigh of relief you breathed, and the little Snoopy dance you did around your desk when no one was looking? Well...

Apparently "soon come" would not be the phrase to describe the Fab Four's long-awaited introduction to the digital age. But according to Sir Paul, who is seemingly stuck making a press statement every day of his life, the problem lies not with iTunes, but with the Beatles' old label. Describing the process as "stalled," Macca said "There are a couple of sticking points between EMI and the Beatles." But don't be downhearted -- just look at the events of the last year: My Bloody Valentine toured, Chinese Democracy was released, and Obama was elected. Just keep repeating to yourself (or maybe to McCartney if you can get him on the horn) "Yes we can."

I wonder how many people have given up and turned to torrents. EMI is losing money every minute this isn't done.

For those who don't already know just google:

Beatles Ebbetts.

You're welcome.

When the marketplace is built on sharing of data, your recourse is not forced scarcity (which is impossible), but convenience.
You know, I really want to reward the people who've written this music, but %50 of them are dead, and the only sources for thier music are the fans who've got limited resources. But it's The Beatles. How can I not have them in my library?
Wise up. Put all the major albums up, split them into periods, add all the rarities and compilations, do it for $100 per period at highest quality. Add content. Add high-resolution covers. Add new videos with Ringo and Paul. See how that goes, and work with that data.
Jesus, is it that hard?
I simply don't understand the inability to put the Beatles' catalog online.

I agree, there's no way it shouldn't be available online. It's ridiculous not to.
