Could The Beatles’ catalog be hitting a videogame console near you?

Representatives for a quaint band called The Beatles are reportedly in talks to license the band’s music for use in an iteration of the Rock Band or Guitar Hero franchises.
The fab-four’s representatives are in talks with the companies that manufacture both games (MTV Games and Activision), and a deal with one of them could be done within the next couple of weeks. The deal would be worth millions, but would hinge on whether or not EMI and Apple Corps would approve any deal (as is well publicized they’ve turned down iTunes for a while now).

Obviously, this would be a major coup for either gaming company, would put stock in the games’ effectiveness at selling music, and would establish the company that gets the licensing as the dominant brand. Either way, it appears you will soon be able to play “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” on more than a tennis racket. [paidContent via The Daily Swarm]
