The release of the Beastie Boys’ Hot Sauce Committee, Pt. 1 is turning into a saga. It was initially set to come out in September 2009, but was delayed after Adam Yauch was diagnosed with cancer. A December release was mooted but nothing transpired, and the album remains in limbo, with no firm date set for its unveiling.
Now, it appears we may never hear the record as it was originally intended to sound, as the band is going to go back and tinker with the recording. “We may or may not [release it] depending on how my health is, come September, said Yauch. “We finished the record over a year ago, so we want to take a look at it and re-evaluate and make sure it is what we want to put out there and that we are still happy with it. I don’t think we will change it up too much.”
While fans impatiently await the album, there’s better news concerning Yauch’s health. “I feel better,” he said. “It was touch and go there for a while, but I am finally getting my energy back.” The rapper predicted that he should be fine after surgery when the public was notified about his battle with cancer back in 2009, and thankfully that diagnosis looks to have been correct.
