Beastie Boys Make “Fight For Your Right” Short Film

During a particularly gnarly spell of writer’s block last night, I found myself perusing old Beastie Boys interviews — like this one (damn, looking for that one, I almost got distracted by this one). Tonight, I caught up with a filmmaker friend and heard that her doc about a mental hospital out in Strong Island got passed on by Sundance. Two seemingly unrelated occurrences make love and become… Adam “MCA” Yauch writing and directing a short film called “Fight For Your Right Revisited,” of course.

The film’s title suggests a “follow-up” to the “(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (to Party!)” video. You know, this one with the boys gone wild. The film will screen at Sundance 2011, but there isn’t much info over there aside from a short tagline, “After the boys leave the party…” And the likelihood of Ferrell-McKay style humor, what with a cast that includes Elijah Wood, Danny McBride, Seth Rogen, Will Ferrell, John C. Reilly and Jack Black. Yauch did us a solid by posting what appears to be a still from the film of Rogen, Wood and McBride portraying Mike D, Adrock and MCA, respectively; Evidence A is above. In the meantime, my money is the tone of the revisit will be Coldplay.

Oh, and looks like Das Racist’s “Who’s That? Brooown!” video will also be at Sundance.
