In the past month or so we have heard quite a bit of news from the Beastie Boys camp. Most recently, we learned the great news that Adam "MCA" Yauch has "has been given the "all-clear" in his battle with cancer," according to fellow Prefix writer Kiran Aditham.
And we found out the month before, thanks to 'Fix writer Dan Nishimoto, that Yauch had written and directed a short-film, Fight For Your Right Revisited. We knew then that Seth Rogen, Elijah Wood and Danny McBride are portraying Mike D, Adrock and MCA, respectively.
At least, that's what we thought. Consequence of Sound has revealed that two actors will play each Beastie Boy, which means Mike D, Adrock, and MCA will also be played by Jack Black, Will Ferrell, and John C. Reilly, respectively.
Other roles have been made known, too, including Susan Sarandon's role as the mother while Stanley Tucci will serve as the father. Also, the three Beasties apparently make cameos as the three cops likely breaking up the party at the film's completion.
As if all those big names weren't enough, Fight For Your Right Revisited also includes appearances by Orlando Bloom, Kirsten Dunst, David Cross, Will Arnett, Amy Poehler, Jason Schwartzman, Adam Scott, Rainn Wilson, Steve Buscemi, Chloë Sevigny, Alicia Silverstone, Martin Starr, Ted Danson, Rashida Jones, and Mike Mills, of R.E.M.
Who knows when those of us not attending Sundance this year will get a chance to view this, but I know I'm not alone in hoping it hits the web sooner rather than later.
