The Beastie Boys have announced three shows in the build up to November’s presidential election. The shows, which are been collectively billed as Get Out and Vote Tour, are designed to encourage people to go to the polls on November 4. Adam Yauch has already stressed his public support for Barack Obama, saying: “When I hear Obama speak he just seems really sincere and he just seems like somebody who actually has his heart and his motivation in the right place.”
The Get Out and Vote Tour features an eclectic lineup of guest performers, including Norah Jones, Santogold, Sheryl Crow, the ubiquitous Jack Johnson and Tenacious D. The thought of Ad-Rock laying down a few rhymes over a Sheryl Crow song might be too good to miss. “This election is too important to stay at home," the trio said in a statement. “We hope that you can come out, have a nice night, dance, sing, get your freak on, and then wake up the next morning and get everyone that you possibly can to get out and vote."
