We have been anticipating Bass Drum of Death's proper debut, GB City, since the duo leaked their lead single, "Young Pros," in February. Considering how much we dug that track, it was pretty great to have them play one of our SXSW parties. What was even better, though, was how good their set was. Fellow Prefix writer Andrew Winistorfer called Bass Drum of Death "raucous, stone cold mothers from Mississippi who blend rhythm & blooze with Black Lips-esque garage rock." Pretty spot-on, if you ask me.
And as they gear up to release GB City next Tuesday, Bass Drum of Death will be hitting the road soon and making their TV debut tonight at 11 on FUEL TV's The Daily Habit. In crazier and related news, they will be backing MellowHype as they make their TV debut tomorrow night at the same time on the same show. The duo of Hodgy Beats and Left Brain, both of Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All, will be premiering "64" off their forthcoming physical release of last year's Blackenedwhite. Expect videos of both performances to grace Prefix.
Oh, and you might be wondering how these two acts got together? Well, they're both represented by Heathcliff Berru and they are both signed to Fat Possum Records. Only makes sense, right?
