Protests, some minor rioting and the G20 summit were a few of the events that greeted Barack Obama on his first trip to the UK as president. He also had a meeting, alongside his wife Michelle, with the Queen. Obama has given some unusual gifts during his short stint as president--just check out the
package of DVDs
he sent to British Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
But the iPod he presented to the Queen at their meeting is surely the most intriguing gift yet. Few details are known about its contents, but we
already know
of Obama’s taste for Jay-Z, Stevie Wonder and Elton John. The iPod does feature video footage of the Queen’s 2007 visit to the U.S., and a number of Broadway songs, including a songbook for
the King and I
.
Obama is quoted saying: “I think in the imagination of people throughout America, what the Queen stands for, her decency and her civility and what she represents is very important." The Queen responded by saying she was “delighted” with their meeting. Hopefully the contents of the Royal iPod will leak at some point. I wonder what bitrate Obama encodes at? [
