Now that Devendra Banhart has gotten into film, he's decided to go back and take a look at the videos in his catalog. The oft-bearded singer has decided to air his grievances with past promos:
"Other than "Carmensita" and "Little Yellow Spider," every video I've made has been a complete fucking mess of incompetence and deception. The labels have released the videos without me seeing them – incomplete videos that make no sense and make me look even dumber than I am."
Banhart went on to add that with his new deal at Warner Brothers' Reprise imprint, he'll have more control over his videos, saying that "the company won't release a music video until I've seen it and approved it." For Banhart's sake, hopefully this will be the one instance in a million where a major label doesn't steamroll its artist or try to pound him or her into a round hole. Otherwise, Devendra, could you maybe beg your new corporate overlords to make more videos of you and Natalie? [NME]
