Bands nominated for Mercury Prize see ridiculous jump in sales

Elbow may have shocked the world by winning the Mercury Prize last week, but the real winners are all the bands that were nominated, as all their albums experienced a jump in sales this week.

Burial’s Untrue experienced the highest jump: its sales increased by 1004 percent (This seems almost impossible). Elbow’s The Seldom Seen Kid increased by 688 percent, leaping 54 places up to number seven on the UK album charts. The other nominated bands experienced boosts of almost 500 percent. [Reuters]
