It seems like services such as Bandcamp are only going to become bigger as the years pass and almost everything becomes digital. Artists can sell both digital and physical copies of their music, merchandise, and more through the service that apparently had its best month to date this past December.
Hypebot reports that Bandcamp sales were at more than $1 million last month. This brings the total amount of sales up to $12.6 million, but that’s not the most notable piece of news here. As Hypebot points out, Bandcamp began tracking its sales in terms of finding out where they started. And in the examples they gave, it looks pretty good for some indie artists:
- “a $15 sale came in from the search “maimouna youssef the blooming hulkshare.”
- “a fan made a $12 purchase after clicking a link on music torrent tracker What.CD.
