Having wrapped up their touring schedule for the time being, Band of Horses have announced they are working on a new album. While off the road, the band plans to head to Echo Mountain Studios in Asheville, NC to start work on some new material. The news probably comes as little surprise to anyone who has caught the band live lately. Ben Bridwell and company have been previewing new songs in their shows for quite some time. Recently a number of videos popped up on YouTube, offering a few tastes of the band's new stuff. The clips are, of course, not the finest audio quality, but they do show Band of Horses stretching their sound a bit. Though "Key Hole" sounds much like what we've come to expect from the guys, the country sway of "Older" is a more nuanced and twangy take on their southern-soaked rock. But the biggest surprise may be on an untitled track, where Bridwell gives up the lead vocal duties to Tyler Ramsey. The spacious, stripped-down ballad is actually quite affecting, if you can ignore the mumbling camera operator.
