The debut of R&B-lover Alec Koone, aka Balam Acab, quickly shot up our most anticipated albums list with the release of a pair of singles, "Oh, Why" and "Apart," over the past two months. The album itself, Wander / Wonder, is set to drop in the first week of September on Tri Angle Records, which released Koone's first effort, the See Birds EP, last year. The 20-year-old Pennsylvania resident wrote and produced the entirety of Wander / Wonder and mixed it with some help from Sam Haar, of Blondes.
Koone issued the following statement on the album:
"It's an open ended album, and I think individuals should make their own meaning of it so that it is something actually real to them. It's not classical music, but in the tradition of a classical work like a Bach Cello Suite, I see it as more of a whole musical piece with themes/motifs/ideas reoccurring throughout, connecting the tracks together as opposed to simply being a collection of songs that sit next to each other in isolation. It's also an album that should be listened to loudly."
Wander / Wonder drops Sept. 6 on Tri Angle. You can view the track listing and listen to "Apart" below.
