Well that was quick: After just a few months spent on the indie periphery, Azealia Banks has been signed by Universal Records. Banks announced the signing on Twitter, so we don't know if she got A$AP Rocky money, but this follows a deal with XL Recordings that fell through a few months ago. Banks also teased her Twitter followers, saying her album might be out in May or June.
This follows a recent trend of major labels jumping on indie upstarts quicker than they used to--Kreayshawn, A$AP Rocky, and Lana Del Rey were all signed shortly after their hype hit critical mass.
