A.V. Club Names White Stripes' 'White Blood Cells' Album of the Decade

The fine folks over at A.V. Club have posted their best-of-the-decade music list today, and at number one they've got the White Stripes' White Blood Cells. That pick is sure to start some rabble-rabble below, but it's a solid pick, backing away from the easy gimme of putting Kid A on top. Though I do take umbrage with calling White Blood Cells "true," since most of the songs are far from any "truth" as I know it. Still though, solid pick.

The top ten is rounded out by the usual suspects of Kanye, Jigga, Radiohead, Wilco and OutKast, but some unexpected picks as well (Hold Steady, and not the album you think, and the National) Here's the Top Ten. Go here to read the whole list.

10. The National Alligator

9. Jay-Z The Blueprint

8. Arcade Fire Funeral

7. Modest Mouse The Moon & Antarctica

6. The Hold Steady Separation Sunday

5. Wilco Hotel Yankee Foxtrot

4. OutKast Stankonia

3. Radiohead Kid A

2. Kanye West The College Dropout

1. White Stripes White Blood Cells

Ordinarily I like lists because "oh, I haven't heard that" but these decade lists (perhaps rightly so) feature the same stuff. Kayne still doesn't interest me and I've owned White Blood Cells, like, forever. So. Bring on the '09 lists!

No "Turn on the Bright Lights" by Interpol? I would take that over National, Steady, Mouse, and Arcade. That album has more legs than the aforementioned.

This is actually the best looking top 10 I've seen so far. Would go with Late Registration instead of College Dropout, among other things, but quite good list.
