Bradford Cox’s postings on the Deerhunter/Atlas Sound blog have gone quite of late. At the end of August he posted a cover of a Swell Maps song, then everything went quiet following the furor surrounding the accidental leaks of Deerhunter’s Weird Era Cont. and Atlas Sound’s Logos. He’s returned to blogging this week, posting with typical generosity.
Three new Atlas Sound songs can be found on the blog. The first, titled “Coffin Trick,” is a brief one-and-a-half minute piece of lo-fi pop that seems custom made for Halloween with its “sing to the coffin that awaits you” refrain. Next up is a virtual Atlas Sound single titled “Maybe Logic.” The song, with its heavily distorted vocals and looped beats, is in a similar vein to much of this year’s excellent Let the Blind Lead Those Who Can See But Cannot Feel album. It’s accompanied by a track named “Airedales,” which may or may not be Cox’s tribute to his favorite breed of canine.
In a bountiful week for Cox fans, the Deerhunter blog also features an October Micromix, which is a 14-song mixtape-style download. Also available at the Southern Shelter blog is a full Atlas Sound live set, recorded at the 40 Watt club in Athens, Georgia [via LHB].
