Mario, the R&B singer best known lately for Dancing with the Stars, is in the clear on charges of assault. The singer was arrested October 1 after police received a call from his mother, Shawnita Hardaway, alleging that her son had attacked her. But the charges were dropped after Hardaway – whose struggles with drug addiction were documented in I Won't Love You to Death: The Story of Mario and His Mom – later recanted her story, saying she’d been drinking and using drugs before she made the call to police and that the alleged attack had never taken place. Lawyer William “Hassan” III, following news of the charges being dropped, said that client Mario "remains committed to helping his mother battle her addiction." [MTV]
