Asher Roth Signs To Def Jam, Dropping Mixtape On Monday

Here’s some interesting news from Asher Roth’s camp. After several years on Steve Rifkinds’ SRC Records label under the Universal Music Group umbrella, the Pennsylvania rapper has moved on. Sort of. You see, it’s been revealed that he’s now on Def Jam Recordings, which, too, operates under Universal Music Group. So Roth is still on the same major, technically, though hopefully his new digs mean that he won’t have to water down his sound. You know, like he did on his disappointing debut, Asleep in the Bread Aisle. We’ll see, I suppose. His Pabst & Jazz mixtape is due out on Monday. [RR]
