As iTunes Store Nears Ten Billionth Download, Apple Releases List Of Garbage That Made It Possible

Despite it’s Draconian pricing scheme and the lack of any tactile sensation whatsoever, Apple’s iTunes store has become the way that many people now buy their music. Though there are holdouts living among us, iTunes has rolled up nearly ten billion downloads in its existence. To celebrate, the company is giving away a $10,000 iTunes gift card to the lucky downloader who crosses the threshold. In other words, if you’ve been on the fence about getting that swanky new version of “We Are World,” now’s the time to pull the trigger. If that particular piece of “music” doesn’t float your boat, perhaps you might want to pick an artistically significant tune from the list of the iTunes’ most downloaded songs. I hear the Mraz is very good this year.

    1. “I Gotta Feeling” by Black Eyed Peas

    2. “Poker Face”  by Lady Gaga

    3. “Boom Boom Pow” by Black Eyed Peas

    4. “I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz

    5. “Viva La Vida” by Coldplay

    6. “Just Dance” by Lady Gaga and Colby O’Donis

    7. “Low” by Flo Rida featuring T-Pain

    8. “Love Story” by Taylor Swift

    9. “Bleeding Love” by Leona Lewis

    10. “Tik Tok” by Kei$ha

If the recent vintage of these songs is any indication of iTunes current financial health, it seems that Steve Jobs will be able to afford another rocket car and solid gold house in the near future. [The Daily Swarm]
