Toronto-based and venerated indie label Arts & Crafts (home to bands like Stars, Broken Social Scene, Los Campesinos!, and others) has announced the creation of Arts & Crafts Mexico, which will release portions of the Arts& Crafts catalog in Mexico. The label was announced in Mexico City on September 30 by label co-owners Jeffrey Remedios and Kevin Drew, along with Stars, who performed a show later that night.
The first eight albums Arts & Crafts Mexico is putting out are as follows:
Broken Social Scene: You Forgot It In People
Broken Social Scene: Broken Social Scene
Broken Social Scene Presents: Kevin Drew: Spirit If…
Broken Social Scene Presents: Brendan Canning: Something For All Of Us…
Los Campesinos!: Hold On Now, Youngster…
The Stills: Oceans Will Rise
Constantines: Kensington Heights
Stars: In Our Bedroom After The War
Opening up offices in Mexico is an ambitious move for Arts & Crafts, but it is also proving that indie rock is more than just a Canada-Europe-U.S. endeavor-- people in South America actually like Los Campesinos! too.
