Arthur Magazine resurrected

Thank whatever god you believe in: Arthur Magazine is returning after an all-too-long three month absence. Between 2002 and early 2007, the mag was a breath of fresh air on the newsstands, a free publication that championed the kind of music and viewpoints that better-known independent periodicals either ignored or were too scared to print. And Arthur didn't just report on the musical happenings - in addition to top-notch musical and cultural criticism (Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore had a regular column), the magazine spawned its own record label Bastet, and curated some truly awesome festivals in Los Angeles, where its editorial offices are located. Financial woes caused co-founder Jay Babcock to announce the retirement of Arthur back in February, but Babcock managed to scrape together enough funds to buy out publisher Laris Kreslin's share of the magazine, allowing him to resume a normal publication schedule. No word on when the first post-resurrection issue will surface, but it'll be a good day whenever it does.
