Arctic Monkeys working on tracks with Josh Homme

Alex Turner and his scratchy English indie-rockers the Arctic Monkeys are about to get a rock makeover. Turner, who has been working on his Last Shadow Puppets project during the Monkeys’ brief hiatus, has called upon Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme to produce new tracks by the band.

Homme has been talking about the collaboration, which will bear fruit when the Arctic Monkeys travel out to the desert to work with him next month. The band will be working in Homme’s infamous studio in the Johsua Tree in California, where he has previously worked with PJ Harvey, Ween, Mark Lanegan, and many others. “That’s the sort of pressure-free ‘Lets do something cool’ environment that really pays musical dividends at the end,” says Homme.
