Arctic Monkeys will score their third UK No. 1 album with the release of Humbug, which dropped Aug. 25. However, midweek sales figures indicate the disc isn't as popular as the band's previous outings. According to the Daily Star, Humbug has sold only 40,000 copies so far. In comparison, the band's 2006 debut record, Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not, moved 360,000 units in its first week.
However, HMV representative Gennaro Castaldo says the group's third record is likely to sell over 100,000 copies by week's end. "It could even vie with U2's No Line on the Horizon as one of the fastest-selling albums of 2009," he predicts. [Angry Ape]
